Sneaking a peak at progress in Weston-super-Mare
10 March 2026
As part of North Somerset Council’s £20 million Government funded programme, we’re helping to deliver key projects in multiple locations in the town. Works have been progressing on site over the past few months - starting with a set of wayfinding improvements delivered across the town centre at the end of 2025, followed by improvement works to Grove Park and Marine Lake by summer 2026.
In addition to refreshing finger post signage across the town centre, our proposals have introduced new ‘breadcrumb’ signage along key walking routes to important local destinations like Tropicana, and bold new signage for hidden town centre links at Spider Lane.
At Grove Park, the main entrance to the park has been cleared of a defunct existing toilet block. The entrance is now a welcoming environment with new and reclaimed paving, sustainable drainage and planting chosen through local engagement. New shingle-clad public toilets delivered within the park will support the park café and community events.
Construction works at Marine Lake are currently ongoing. Proposals will re-invigorate and secure the future of this valued but dilapidated community facility. Works include walkway re-surfacing, new welcome ‘gateway’ signage, the re-introduction of public toilets, and the potential for paddle board and watersports hire facilities.

‘Breadcrumb’ signage towards Tropicana
The three sub-projects are part of North Somerset Council’s £20 million Government funded programme to support the authority’s ambitious placemaking vision for the town. The investment focuses on several high-profile sites across Weston’s town centre and seafront, transforming the culture, leisure and retail experience for residents, business, and visitors. This will help reinvent iconic heritage buildings, support local businesses, create new jobs, and deliver a year-round experience-led economy for the future.
Our team for the Weston-Super-Mare placemaking commission combines We Made That’s experience of multi-faceted regeneration projects, with a range of local skills, including engineering from Fenton Holloway, soft landscape from Robert Bray Associates and cultural placemaking and engagement from Super Culture. The full team is supported in optimising the projects’ environmental impact by XCO2.
