Regenerative Architecture Index frontrunner 2025: Two years, two recognitions
13 October 2025
We Made That has been selected as a 'frontrunner' in the Regenerative Architecture Index (RAI) 2025 for the second consecutive year by Architecture Today and Architects Declare UK. We're leading the way on 'creating a just space for people', championing inclusive, equitable, and socially regenerative design. This recognition places us among the leading practices driving the transition towards regenerative working and projects, building on our inaugural frontrunner status in 2024.
The Index recognises that true regenerative practice requires a fundamental shift in mindset - one that considers seven generations ahead and actively regenerates ecosystems while providing social connection, economic opportunity and wellbeing for all. It champions design processes that foster shared stewardship, enabling neighbourhoods to self-organise and build resilience through ethical, inclusive and participatory approaches.
What has it meant for us to ‘create a just space for people’?
- Progressive leadership: with -5.2% gender pay gap favouring women
- Team-led decision making: Participatory budget pot for employees
- High employment standards: Living Wage accreditation, Mayor of London Good Work Standard and 2.4% overtime vs 23% industry benchmark
- Active community support: Pro-bono work, charitable giving and launching the 'Right to Place' partnership
- Ethical practice commitments: Tracking £526,000 in local supplier investment
- Industry recognition: B Corp certification and Architects Declare signatories

This repeat recognition reinforces our conviction that regenerative practice isn't just about individual projects but requires fundamental changes to how we operate as a business, engage with communities and contribute to wider systemic change in the built environment sector — it needs more bold practices moving beyond “less harm” toward genuinely regenerative outcomes.
