Westbury Arts Centre is one of Milton Keynes’s primary artist studio providers and a long-standing arts venue in the area. In 2017, the year of Milton Keynes’s 30th anniversary, We Made That carried out a detailed social value study of the centre. This study comes as Milton Keynes Development Partnership - owners of the Westbury site - consider priorities and prospects for asset management alongside ambitions for Milton Keynes to grow as a cultural and creative place to live and work.
The study captures the social, economic and place-based benefits that Westbury Arts Centre is delivering to its local community as well as to the wider Milton Keynes area. Through artist and visitor surveys, site visits and interviews with stakeholders across Milton Keynes’s arts and urban development sectors, this study shines a light on the transformation of the centre from artist-led collective to publicly-engaged arts charity and considers how the centre might further evolve to continue to serve artists and residents in Milton Keynes.
