As part of the ‘High Street 2012’ Heritage, Culture and Community Grants programme, We Made That were commissioned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to produce a series of super-local speculative newspapers about High Street 2012, a key route through East London.
Based on the ambition to record and explore the familiar High Street, and to celebrate and speculate on the possibilities that lie in its future, this unique newspaper run was published over the autumn months of 2011. Guest writers, artists, urban designers and community members were invited to contribute creative snapshots of the area. The papers were distributed, for free, from dedicated news stands along the street. The final issue was published June 2012.
