We Made That worked with the Gillingham Neighbourhood Plan Group to explore the role of culture in the life of the town, and to support creativity in the development of their emerging plan document.
Using the town’s network of existing cultural groups, the team ran a series of ’wider outreach’ workshops to spread the word of the Neighbourhood Plan to new audiences. With the input from these workshops and further research, a cultural audit was created in the form of both a report and a freely distributed pamphlet to record and promote the role that cultural activity has in Gillingham. Both the collection and distribution of this information has supported accessible and approachable introductions to the neighbourhood planning process for local residents and workers in the town.
